Troy Williams ― ADIA Chief Executive Officer
The Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) is Troy Williams who has responsibility for providing administrative and financial leadership, organisational development in addition to liaison with government, affiliated organisations, other stakeholders and the public. A key role is the development of the Association's staff.
Following an extensive national search, Mr Williams took up the appointment as ADIA Chief Executive Officer of the Australian in early 2010. He has considerable experience working with trade associations and is particularly experienced at introducing reforms to better assist members contribute to influencing the commercial, technical and regulatory environment in which they work.

Prior to his appointment with ADIA, he was Chief Executive Officer of Skill360 Australia, Group Training Organisation (GTO) employing some seventy operational staff and nearly eight hundred local apprentices. During his tenure Skill360 Australia gained ISO9001, ISO14001 and AS/NZS4801 certification and achieved carbon-neutral status.
Mr Williams has also served as Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Institute of Building (AIB), a professional organisation incorporated by Royal Charter that supports degree qualified building and construction managers. During his tenure he revised administrative arrangements and adoption of a strategic plan saw a significant improvement in the Institute’s financial position. Accumulated losses of more than $2.5million in the five years prior to his arrival were reversed and the institute operated with strong and sustainable surpluses during his tenure. Recognising his ability to build collaborative networks, in 2007 Mr Williams was appointed to the executive of the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF), the peak body representing nine national trade associations and professional institutes within the building, construction and property industries.
Before joining AIB, Mr Williams was Chief Executive Officer the Community Titles Institute Queensland (CTIQ). This is the peak professional institute for those with an ownership or management interest in some 165,000 properties (valued at AUD$57billion) falling within a community titles / strata titled scheme. During his time as Chief Executive Officer the CTIQ doubled in size, returned to financial stability and became influential in body corporate law reform.
Mr Williams’ excellent understanding of the vocational education and training sector was gained during his time as Assistant Executive Director of the Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia), based in Melbourne. At FPA Australia he established a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to provide training in maintenance of fire protection systems and successfully lobbied the Commonwealth Government to have FPA Australia to register certain categories of electrical technicians. During his work with FPA Australia, Mr Williams lived in the United States of America on secondment to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), based in Boston, Massachusetts.
A thorough understanding of codes and standards infrastructure has arisen from his work on allowing industry to play a more influential role in development of Australian and international standards. He was the author of a comprehensive building industry submission to the 2006 Productivity Commission inquiry into standards setting and laboratory accreditation.
Mr Williams has also worked with the building industry and dental industry in its ozone layer protection and global warming prevention programs, and has represented Australian industry at key meetings in Australian, New Zealand, Europe and the United Kingdom to promote Australia’s expertise.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD), an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (AFAIM) and a member of the Australian Institute of Training and Development (AITD).
Until 2006, he was an active member of the Australian Army Reserve serving in the infantry corps.
