ADIA & The Australian Dental Industry
The Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) was formed in 1925 to represent member companies who supply products and services used in dentistry. To this end, ADIA is an active advocate for the interests of member companies and it also works to promote dentistry and advance the oral health are of all Australians. Taking direction from its members, ADIA supports the Australian dental industry through a range of initiatives that include:
- Advocacy to influences changes to regulations affecting the dental industry;
- Delivery of training programs to develop a skilled workforce for the industry;
- Hosting the annual ADX dental exhibition and ADX online catalogue;
- Supporting the development of Australian and international standards relevant to the dental industry.
One of ADIA’s key roles is to bring professionals within the dental industry together to share ideas and experiences.
The manufacture and supply of dental products in Australia is heavily regulatedand ADIA represents the interests of the dental industry when government is considering changes to legislation. The dental industry, through ADIA, primarily deals with legislation administered by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), however in order to ensure that the interests of the ADIA membership are protected, ADIA deals with all levels of government through an active external representation strategy.
In order to ensure that technical standards associated with the manufacture, supply and maintenance of dental products reflect industry practice and capabilities, ADIA works with organisations such as Standards Australia and the International Standards Organisation (ISO) to develop standards.
Perhaps ADIA is best known for the annual ADX Dental Exhibition which affords the dental industry the opportunity to showcase its product to dentists and allied oral healthcare professionals. Over recent years, ADX Sydney has become a staple component in the calendar of every dentist, dental therapist, dental hygienists and dental technician in the country.
ADIA also supports the ADX Online dental product catalogue.
Membership of ADIA is an essential tool for any manufacturer and supplier of dental product in Australia.
