ADIA Projects — Dental Industry Regulatory Projects
A key role of the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) is to provide the suppliers of dental products and services with an effective voice to ensure that their views are taken into account when changes are proposed to the regulatory environment.
Through the ADIA-DRC Dental Regulation Committee proposals to introduce new or amend existing regulations are reviewed and the impacts on the industry are studied. Where required, ADIA provides a considered response that ensures that effective regulation supports quality patient health outcomes without adversely impacting on the viability of a commercially sustainable dental industry. ADIA is actively involved in the current projects:

It is important to note with respect to the regulation of dentists and allied oral healthcare professionals, on policy matters ADIA defers to the appropriate professional body such as the Australian Dental Association (ADA). ADIA's interest in such matters is strictly limited to areas which directly impact on the dental industry, with ADIA seeking to maintain a regulatory framework based on a risk management approach designed to ensure public health and safety, while at the same time freeing industry from any unnecessary regulatory burden.
In order to ensure that technical standards and government policy relevant to the dental industry achieve their intended outcomes, ADIA represents the dental industry on a number of committees and working groups:
