BLENDING TECHNIQUE AND TECHNOLOGY - DIGITISING BIO-AESTHETICS AND FUNCTION WITH SEMI DIRECT AND INDIRECT RESTORATIONS
ABSTRACT
Dentistry has come a long way since Dr. GV Black introduced his principles of mechanical retention. One aspect that has undeniably transformed modern dentistry is bonding. Material science has made significant advancements over the past few decades, and adhesive dentistry has become an integral part of daily clinical practice. Achieving predictable and long-term results requires a harmonious blend of material science, understanding the physiology of the stomatognathic system, and applying minimally invasive bio-mechanical procedures. Integrating modern digital technology can lead to outcomes that truly harmonize with the aesthetics of biology.
Utilizing material science that closely mimics natural dentition while allowing ease and accuracy of work can optimize the quality of practice, as well as enhance efficiency in terms of time and cost. Laser-sintered hybrid glass, semi-direct techniques, and CADCAM technology provide a straightforward yet comprehensive bio-aesthetic solution for various clinical needs.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Following the lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, participants will be able to:
1.Skilfully execute semi-direct and indirect restorative philosophies using hybrid glass materials.
2.Achieve highly precise and clinically reliable aesthetic results in their daily dental practice.
3.Comprehend the science behind cementing, bonding, and luting protocols for semi-direct and CAD CAM-based restorations.
4.Learn to characterize restorations using coloured composites and resin stains.
5.Tailor need-based treatments to individual patient requirements in a minimally invasive and maximally effective manner.
6.Attain both bio-aesthetics and function in a single appointment.
LECTURE TOPICS
1.Introduction to tooth-coloured dentistry.
2.Addressing challenges in direct composites and indirect ceramic procedures.
3.Evolution of Edelweiss Dentistry: From semi-direct to CAD CAM.
4.Brief showcase of semi-direct veneers, occlusion VDs, post and core, and paediatric crowns and veneers.
5.In-depth discussion on the science and technology of CAD CAM blocks, covering indications, preparation, bonding protocols, characterization, and finishing and polishing procedures.
HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES
1.Hands-on practice with semi-direct veneers and occlusion VDs on typodont models.
2.Preparing, characterizing/staining hybrid glass restorations, and learning their cementation protocols.
COURSE DURATION
1.Lecture: 90 minutes
2.Break: 30 minutes
3.Demonstration: 45 minutes
4.Hands-on: 60 minutes
5.CAD/CAM: 15 minutes
