MTP Growth Centre & The Dental Industry

28th Oct 16

.
Summary —

MTPConnect is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to bring businesses in the dental industry, and broader medical technology sector, together to achieve greater commercialisation and establish Australia as an Asia-Pacific hub for MTP companies.

Key Issues For Consideration —

Australian dental product manufacturers stand the best chance of achieving long-term sustainability if they are globally competitive. Through MTPConnect, there exists great opportunity for Australian businesses to now become key players in emerging Asia-Pacific markets.

MTPConnect was formed in November 2015 as part of the Federal Government's $248 million Industry Growth Centres Initiative and offers growth support to manufacturers through grants and partnerships. MTPConnect aims to deliver improvements for Australian companies across three horizons - committing across 2016-17 to opening its programs for "rapid impact" and establishing itself as an independent voice for the sector. Dental manufacturers are encouraged to become involved to ensure the industry is well-represented and a leading part of the Australian push into the Asia-Pacific.

As a major outcome of the 2016-20 ADIA Strategic Plan, a focus of the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) will be to provide opportunities for local dental product manufacturers and suppliers to engage with MTP. The ADIA Dental Product Manufacturers Roundtable schedule for 30 May 2017 in Canberra will be one such opportunity.
