Statistics — Products business survey

To allow manufacturers and suppliers of quality dental products to better understand sentiment on current business conditions and future expectations, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) compiles the ADIA Australian Dental Products Business Conditions Survey.

Undertaken on a quarterly basis, the survey’s results produce key indicators that assess the commercial environment in which Australia’s dental industry operates.

The ADIA Australian Dental Products Business Conditions Survey is produced using feedback from the businesses that supply products to dentists and allied oral healthcare professionals. It reviews current business conditions and future expectations on a quarterly basis across a number of key indicators including:

Current conditions and future expectations for —

Dental product sales volumes;
Dental product selling prices;
Costs of manufacturing / importing product;
Administrative overhead costs;
Business wage costs; and
Business workforce size.

The ADIA Australian Dental Products Business Conditions Survey is a national survey that aggregates data provided by ADIA member businesses. It covers businesses of all sizes operating in every state / territory, and is Australia’s only specialised survey that targets the dental industry.

The ADIA Australian Dental Products Business Conditions Survey is a national survey that aggregates data provided by ADIA member businesses. It covers businesses of all sizes operating in every state / territory, and is Australia’s only specialised survey that targets the dental industry. Free copies of the survey results and an exclusive briefing are provided to each ADIA member company and reviewed in detail at the quarterly series of ADIA State Branch briefings and non-members can purchase a copy.

How the index figure is calculated —

The survey provides index figures for each of the above referenced categories, with an index level of 50 indicating that there is an exact balance of sentiment between those who responded that the variable is growing and those who replied that the variable had declined. Thus, any level below 50 can generally be interpreted as meaning that the variable is falling, and conversely, a reading above 50 indicates the variable is increasing. This approach is used to determine the business conditions index for the previous quarter and also the business expectations for the coming quarter. [Read More]

This initiative is just one of the many ways that ADIA works to provide members with the tools to plan for the growth and sustainability of their businesses, and to help create jobs in Australia’s dental industry. It is a tool particularly valued by small businesses and the Association's commitment to this initiative forms part of ADIA's assistance for small business.

Member Engagement —

ADIA provides leadership, strategy, advocacy and support. Our members set our agenda, fund our activities and directly benefit from the results. With respect to the compilation of industry research and statistics the team in the ADIA national office receive advice and guidance from members serving on the ADIA-BAC Business Affairs Committee and briefings are provided to members who attend ADIA State Branch Briefings.
