Parliamentary Engagement

A considered, non-partisan approach to advocacy that supports growth, jobs and patient safety.

The dental industry ranges from small family businesses to local operations of multinational suppliers. ADIA’s advocacy helps maintain the right balance between economic growth and patient safety by engaging with departmental leaders and Parliament at state and federal levels. This work includes the Parliamentary Friends of the Dental Industry group and targeted briefings that position ADIA as a trusted source of advice and guidance.

Underpinning Parliamentary Engagement Principles

  • Non-partisan — ADIA is non-party political.

  • Leadership & integrity — we act with trustworthiness and professionalism.

  • Transparency — all donations and memberships comply with internal controls.

Parliamentary Engagement Objectives

ADIA views parliamentarians and departmental leaders as partners in building a thriving dental industry.

  • Maintain access to senior decision-makers across parties and jurisdictions.
  • Provide timely, evidence-based advice on issues affecting members.
  • Advance reforms aligned to ADIA’s policy statements.
  • Support growth, job creation and sustainable operations across the industry.

The ADIA Parliamentary Roundtable

Each year at Parliament House, Canberra, ADIA convenes a focused forum with parliamentarians, senior officials and industry leaders to discuss commercial, technical and regulatory challenges. The roundtable helps identify practical pathways for the industry to grow, create jobs and operate sustainably.

Parliamentary Friends of the Dental Industry

Established with a cross-party group of federal parliamentarians, Parliamentary Friends provides a formal platform to engage on dental industry matters of public interest. It strengthens connections between decision-makers and ADIA members for the benefit of patients and the broader community.
