Members of the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) and the wider oral health industry gathered last night to celebrate the industry’s best.

The Australian Dental Industry Awards were presented at a gala dinner event at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Guests were regaled by Anna Meares OAM - the most accomplished Australian cyclist of all time, the MC and keynote speaker for the evening.

ADIA CEO Kym De Britt emphasised the importance of celebrating distinction in the industry. “The awards serve as an opportunity for the Association to recognise excellence in the industry, and to pay tribute to the member individuals and organisations pioneering to improve the dental health and wellbeing of all Australians,” he said.

The inaugural Women in Dentistry Scholarship was presented to Dina Tinkler, Chief Operating Officer at Credabl. Dina, a marketing and business development professional with more than eighteen years’ experience, will receive a one-year membership to the Australian Institute of Company Directors and full enrolment to the AICD Company Directors Course. Dina thanked ADIA and Women in Dentistry for the opportunity, “I’m super excited to be able to embark on further education, a new chapter of my professional capabilities, and to be able to mentor, support and influence female colleagues.”

The awards process, convened by ADIA and judged by an independent panel of industry experts, allows for businesses to reflect on the past year's performance.

For excellence in revolutionising the dental industry, the Thryv Innovation Award was presented to Cinch Video Solutions in the face of strong competition. Cinch Video Solutions has adapted its existing technology to enable dental professionals to easily create educational videos from their smartphones, using a library of pre-prepared material. Ian Elliot from Cinch Video Solutions said “the dentistry industry has always been at the forefront of innovation because it’s such a personal procedure and the more comfortable you make the patient, the better the patient experience is going to be.” He said receiving the award is “validation that we’re on the right track”.

Outstanding Achiever Award winner, Dr Suelen Cella of SDI Limited, said she was immensely proud and grateful, “This award shows what you can achieve with teamwork, passion and accountability.” Dr Cella dedicated the win to her team at SDI, with a triumphant “this is for us!”

The ADIA President and Board also acknowledged individual members for their contributions to the Association, including Simon Taggart whose longstanding support was recognised with Life Membership, the highest honour that can be bestowed on a member. In accepting Life Membership, Simon said “it’s been a team effort over the last ten years, and what we’re seeing today is a direct result of everyone’s involvement. It’s been fantastic.”
