ADIA Announces New Partnership with AUP IT

ADIA partners with AUP IT to support members in keeping their business safe

Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with cyber security company, AUP IT.

AUP IT is a professional services and consulting organisation with a ‘Strategy first, Technology next’ approach to helping businesses solve complex and vexing tech issues. Their services range from providing businesses with part-time CIOs who actively work with stakeholders in driving value and progressing digital transformation initiatives and cybersecurity through to automating repetitive work. AUP IT provides vulnerability assessments, Security Operations Centre (SOC) facilities, and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) among other services.

Through this partnership, ADIA will assist its members to reduce their risk of data breach and strengthen their cyber resiliency through end-to-end IT managed services solutions priced exclusively for ADIA members. AUP IT CEO Raja Pradeep said, “AUP IT has extensive experience in the dental and medical industries with a deep understanding of the business drivers impacting the industry. As ADIA is the peak body representing manufacturers and suppliers of innovative dental products, we were excited to be able to work with them to safeguard the dental industry.”

“The dental industry, much like other industries that fall under the healthcare banner, is heavily regulated regarding Cyber Security and Data Protection. You can never be too careful when it comes to the protection of your critical data, people, and infrastructure. We are excited to be able to assist ADIA members in safeguarding their IT systems, identify areas of weakness and suggest potential IT solutions to mitigate risks both current and as they arise,” Mr Pradeep said.

ADIA CEO Kym de Britt looks forward to the new partnership enhancing the security of members’ IT systems. “I am delighted to announce ADIA has entered a new partnership with cyber security company, AUP IT. Recent high profile data breaches have highlighted the need for secure IT systems, and we look forward to being able to support our members’ cyber security needs with this partnership. ADIA recently carried out a vulnerability scan with AUP IT, the results of which were extremely insightful and demonstrated that this is a worthwhile exercise for any small business to undertake.”

Senior Policy and Advocacy Manager, Sarah Raphael

Most recently working in senior management at the Australian Dental Association NSW, Sarah was instrumental in steering advocacy and volunteerism within the profession and community. In her role as Engagement and Advocacy Executive, Sarah was responsible for driving improvements in the areas of community water fluoridation, aged care, rural and remote health and developed and fostered key relationships with government and external stakeholders. As General Manager of Filling the Gap charity, that provides pro bono dental services for disadvantaged people, Sarah grew the organisation, developing the first strategic plan, securing government and industry partnerships, private funding and working towards ensuring the sustainability of the pro bono dental programs offered in NSW and the ACT.

With Sarah’s return to the dental industry, she will draw upon her experience, having consulted for over a decade with Colgate Oral Care, Australia. ADIA CEO Update: Fifth Review of the Dental Benefits Act 2008: Report Released

Posted by ADIA on 10 August 2023
ADIA CEO Update: Fifth Review of the Dental Benefits Act 2008: Report Released

In the second half of last year, ADIA participated in the fifth review of the Dental Benefits Act 2008 (the Act). The report has been tabled in Parliament this month.

The report includes 21 recommendations for improving delivery of and access to the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), the only program operating under the Act.

Increasing awareness and participation in the CDBS is a key advocacy focus for ADIA. It is encouraging to see a united call from respondents for increased awareness of the CDBS across the board, as well as a strong focus on equitable access to care for rural and remote children and priority populations.

The recommendations also include establishing a definition of children with 'high care needs' and increased benefits for that group, along with inclusion of treatment in a hospital setting and treatment provided under general anaesthetic.

The report is timely given the current Senate Select Committee Inquiry into the Provision of and Access to Dental Services in Australia. (Read the interim report here.)

ADIA continues to advocate for increased awareness of the CDBS for eligible children in Australia. Any developments on the report recommendations and the Senate Select Inquiry will be shared via this update as they become available.
